Digital GreenTalents 2026: Early-Career Researchers in Sustainable Development Sought
Early-career researchers from around the world can apply for the Digital GreenTalents 2026 programme between 15 May and 15 June.
Through the “Digital GreenTalents – High Potentials in Sustainable Development” programme, the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) supports outstanding early-career researchers working on digital solutions for sustainable development.
The programme targets young scientists and researchers from across the globe who focus on the intersection of digitalisation and environmental technologies. Key areas include sustainable agriculture, climate and resource protection, food systems, circular economy approaches, as well as data-driven and AI-enabled environmental technologies.
Twenty selected awardees will be invited to undertake a fully funded research stay of up to three months at a German research institution or a company of their choice. In addition, the programme includes a one-week international Summer School featuring workshops, site visits and networking opportunities, as well as a dedicated mentoring programme and access to the global Digital GreenTalents network.
Applications are open from 15 May to 15 June 2026.

Background
The Digital GreenTalents – High Potentials in Sustainable Development programme is supported by the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR). It supports early-career researchers working on digital solutions for sustainable development.
The focus is on international exchange of innovative approaches at the intersection of digitalisation and sustainability. A high-level jury of German experts selects 20 Digital GreenTalents each year.
