On the occasion of German Unity Day, the Permanent Representation of the Federal Republic of Germany to the United Nations Organisations in Rome invites guests to its traditional reception – a special evening bringing together the international community in Rome.

Around 400 guests from the Rome-based UN community as well as representatives from the fields of politics, business, science and culture will gather for this special occasion. The guests will include representatives of the three “Rome-based UN agencies”:

  • Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO)
  • World Food Programme (WFP)
  • International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD)

as well as representatives of UN Member States and other members of the international community.

The reception invites guests to reflect on 80 years of the United Nations and to reaffirm the enduring importance of international cooperation.

As the host to the UN organizations based in Rome, the city is a key hub for multilateral cooperation in the fields of food security, agriculture, sustainable development, and humanitarian assistance.

Germany stands for strong multilateralism, international cooperation, and an open, rules-based and fair trading system.
