National Strategies and International Projects for Food Security
The Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) aims to ensure a balanced and healthy diet in Germany through key objectives.
These include providing safe food, transparent consumer information, and promoting sustainable agriculture, forestry, and fisheries.
Additionally, BMEL supports future-oriented animal husbandry and global food security, collaborating with partners in research and science.
National Strategies
BMEL develops and implements various national strategies to make the agriculture and food sectors future-proof.
- Nutrition Strategy “Good Food for Germany” - Ensures a healthy and sustainable diet for the population. More information can be found here.
- Organic Strategy 2030 - Aims to achieve a 30% share of organic farming in the agricultural and food sector by 2030. Learn more about this strategy here.

International Projects
