Welcome
Humanitarian Assistance of the German Foreign Office
The humanitarian assistance of the Federal Foreign Office aims to provide swift and effective support to people in need worldwide.
As one of the largest humanitarian donors, Germany focuses not only on the immediate needs of those affected by crises but also on prevention and long-term conflict resolution.
The integrated approach of the Federal Foreign Office connects humanitarian aid, development cooperation, and peacebuilding within the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus.
This allows Germany to leverage synergies to deliver urgent relief while developing sustainable solutions to the root causes of conflicts and disasters.
National Strategy
The ”New Strategy of the Federal Foreign Office for Humanitarian Assistance Abroad,“ presented in September 2024, emphasizes the need for more effective and proactive support. It aims to strategically deploy resources to achieve the best possible impact, particularly in severely affected crisis regions such as Syria, Sudan, and the Sahel.
A stronger focus on crisis diplomacy is intended to improve access for those in need and reinforce compliance with international humanitarian law. At the same time, international collaboration is optimized to coordinate and utilize resources more efficiently.
The strategy outlines how targeted assistance can be provided even in challenging environments to successfully address global crises.
