Welcome
Nutrition for Growth Summit 2025: Global Strategies for Sustainable Nutrition Policies
Paris, 27 - 28 March 2025 - At the end of March, representatives from politics, business, and civil society will gather in Paris for the Nutrition for Growth (N4G) Summit.

The goal is to agree on new measures to combat malnutrition. Germany is contributing financial commitments and concepts for sustainable food systems.
The Nutrition for Growth (N4G) Summit is one of several international initiatives addressing the issue of food security. The focus is on targeting hunger and malnutrition while making food systems more resilient.
This involves not only humanitarian aid but also long-term strategies for sustainable agriculture and better nutrition.
According to the UN, around 735 million people worldwide are affected by hunger. At the same time, many people suffer from malnutrition due to their diets being unbalanced or lacking in essential nutrients. The summit in Paris aims to tackle these issues with concrete measures.
Germany's Engagement: Financial Support and Political Initiatives
Germany is one of the largest donors in the field of food security. At the last N4G summit in Tokyo in 2021, global commitments totaling over 27 billion US dollars were made. This sum includes financial contributions and political commitments from 181 actors across 78 countries, supporting programs aimed at combating malnutrition. The German government contributed with its own financial pledges. It is expected that Germany will renew its support for the summit in Paris.
Additionally, the German government is focusing on long-term solutions:
- Linking agriculture and nutrition policy: Programs like the BMZ's One World without Hunger aim to promote sustainable food systems.
- International collaboration: Germany is involved in the Uniting for Global Food Security initiative, which was launched in 2022 to address food crises more rapidly.
- Strengthening sustainable food production: Through the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA), Germany is promoting sustainable bioeconomy and resource-efficient farming.
Expectations for the Summit
Expectations for the summit in Paris are high: it’s not just about financial commitments, but also about concrete, measurable actions. These include:
- Better integration of nutrition and climate policy
- Measures to combat food waste
- Stronger support for countries most affected by hunger and malnutrition
The German government sees itself in an active role. “Germany will continue to advocate for reliable nutrition policies,” said Development Minister Svenja Schulze ahead of the summit.
