“Global Call” in preparation for the UN Summit of the Future on 22-23 September 2024 in New York
Berlin / New York, 12 September 2024 - At the invitation of the President of the Republic of Namibia, Nangolo Mbumba, and the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Olaf Scholz, the Heads of State and Government will participate in a virtual live event “Summit of the Future Global Call”.
The Federal Chancellor will join Namibia's President Mbumba and UN Secretary-General Guterres to make live statements.
More than 40 heads of state and government from all regions of the world will then make their own video statements (pre-recorded) with their commitment to and expectations of the UN Summit on the Future.
The event is on Thursday, September 12, 10:15 AM (New York) / 16:15 (Berlin) / 14:15 UCT and will be broadcasted live on the Internet (UN Web TV): https://webtv.un.org/en/asset/k1e/k1e6jr5qm6

Background Information
The Permanent Representatives of Namibia and Germany to the United Nations, as co-facilitators of the preparatory process, have worked hand in hand with the support of all delegations and the United Nations to develop the Pact for the Future.
Before the Pact is presented for adoption at the Future Summit on September 22 and 23, the event will provide a platform for Member States to express their expectations and demands of the Pact and the Summit at the highest political level.
The Global Call is an important step towards the summit in order to create public awareness and make support at the highest political level visible.
