In 2024, the global community will mark an important milestone in the implementation of the human right to adequate food: the 20th anniversary of the Voluntary Guidelines to Support the Progressive Realization of the Right to Food in the Context of National Food Security, adopted in 2004.

This international multi-stakeholder conference aims to take a joint look at the successes and challenges in implementing the human right to food since the adoption of the Voluntary Guidelines and to discuss which goals should be pursued in the future.

We want to focus on the realization of the right to food in and by Germany and take an international stocktaking with all partners.

In working groups that reflect the most important stakeholder groups, participants can critically discuss the following key issues and contribute to the conference conclusions:

  • What might an agenda for realising the right to food by 2034 look like?
  • What would it take to inject momentum into the realisation of the right to food in the years to come?
  • How can we as a stakeholder group make a concrete contribution to this end?

Updates of the programme and further information can be found on our website.

The conference languages will be English and German. Interpretation into French and Spanish will be provided.

Participation in the event is free of charge.

+++ Registration deadline is 21 May 2024. +++
